Where I live the Rolex Championships were replaced with hockey overtime for the full hour when it first aired, and my local station opted to run infomercials instead on Saturday. Maybe it would have had better ratings if it was ever actually aired. I'm sure my market wasn't the only one.
Love these posts. Racing's demise has been greatly overtstated. There is still a tremendous audience out there.
Nick-The ratings are national #'s so no doubt the regional blackout brought the overall Rolex # down.
Power Cap--The Triple Crown Races gives the US TV audience something they love-a great storyline and a great event-NBC has also performs a great job packaging and promoting the events-Lets see what ABC does with the Belmont
thanks for reading
Ditto Power Cap's response. I can't believe the Preakness brought a bigger number than then NEXT DAY's ROCKETS/LAKERS Game 7! What do you think David Stern is doing about that?
